In winter, the peaceful splendor of the Warren-Waitsfield
community becomes a mecca for alpine and cross-country skiers.
There are also inn-to-inn snowmobile and cross-county ski touring
groups.
Vermont's first snow brings a changing of the garb. Hiking boots
are exchanged for snowshoes, and swim suits for ice skates. Bicycles
are put up, and skis are taken down. Canoes are placed in storage,
and snowmobiles emerge.
Central Vermont is transformed. When urban cities turn dark and
dreary, Vermont turns crisp and exciting. Its winter playground
is ready to host the hearty and adventurous.
The Sugarbush, Sugarbush North and Mad River
Glen ski resorts of Warren and Waitsfield come alive with
thousands of downhill skiers at all levels of skill. To balance
nature's occasional shortcomings, the resorts create tons of snow
to ensure the best skiing in the East.
Nearby inns and lodges provide a home away from home. Guests are
part of the family, and the lobby fireplace becomes the focal
point for a warm renewal of the spirit after a day outdoors.
Many of Central Vermont's inns and motels are immediately adjacent
to a vast (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) network of snowmobile
trails that span the state. Branch trails are groomed by local
clubs while the main arteries are tended by the Vermont
Association of Snow Travelers headquartered in Montpelier.
Many Central Vermont lodges participate in inn-to-inn ski or snowmobile
touring.
Let Central Vermont replace your winter blahs with unmatched adventure.
