Farms make Vermont special and Hollister Hill Farm is one of those very special places. The farm was established in 1825 by Josiah H. Hollister. He was a wealthy businessman from E. Hartford, Connecticut. By the late 1800's, Hollister Hill Farm was one of the largest, most prosperous farms in the area.

Through the years and various owners, the farm became predominantly a dairy farm. We bought Hollister Hill Farm in 1983 and milked cows here for 15 years with our son and his family. We owned a smaller dairy farm for 10 years before moving up here on the hill.

By 1997, the dairy business had changed and we decided it was time that we all did something different. After making that decision, the cows were sold and our son moved on to a new life.

We weren't ready to retire or give up on farming. Our 12-room farmhouse was too big for just the two of us, so we decided to convert the front part of our house to accommodate guests. We officially opened for business in the summer of 1999. On the farm we have Beefalo, hogs, and poultry. We make maple syrup in the spring and hay in the summer. We welcome guests year round and invite you to visit our farm.
