Maplecroft

A Vermont Bed and Breakfast

70 Washington Street; Barre, Vermont 05641

A comfortable Victorian home in central Vermont, Maplecroft offers three guest bedrooms - each with an exclusive bath and a handmade quilt on every bed.  Built in 1887 by granite sculptor Robert Mackie, Maplecroft is a short walk from downtown Barre, the Granite capital of the world.  Mr Mackie was one of many immigrants from Scotland who made their homes in 19th century Barre to bring their stone cutting expertise to the local granite quarries.  A statue honoring Robert Burns overlooks the town from a knoll just below Maplecroft and serves as a reminder of Barre's Caledonian heritage.

Innkeepers: Paul Heller and Marianne Kotch.

Directions:  I-89 exit seven.  Follow the signs to Barre and turn right on route 302 (Main Street).  Stay on 302 past the city park.  Look for the Maplecroft sign on your left and turn left for guest parking
