Presidents Unveil Plan At Annual Meeting 2000

The Central Vermont chamber of Commerce is launching a major capital campaign. The funds will expand the office complex at Beaulieu Place to improve office space and add a 2,000 square-foot committee and community meeting faciliity. The complex will feature state of the art intranet and building-wide, high-capacity internet connections. The confernce and training rooms will be computer equipped and offer video projection capability.

For more than a year, the chamber has reviewed the facilities and building design with community leaders to ensure that the complex will meet the needs of the organization and the community for years to come. After reviewing the objectives and design, several major corporations have offered cash and pledges to initiate the project.

Inspired by a $25,000 contribution from National Life of Vermont, several major corporations have made significant pledges. Pre-campaign pledges total over $100,000. Construction of the addition and installation of equipment will begin in the spring and be completed this summer. Total project cost, including connection to the municipal sewer system, is estimated at about $450,000.

A gift of more than $4,000 has been received from the estate of Lorraine & Jerry Beaulieu, lifelong friends of the chamber and the Central Vermont community. Lorraine worked for the chamber for more than 40 years, and it is in her name that the expansion will take place.
